29th June 2018

A bit of a catch up...

My new togs arrived, I am keeping the top that goes with the bottoms and sending the one piece togs back. They are quite nice but thinking I want to have a look in Aussie. Speaking of Aussie, it will be 6 weeks next Wednesday till our trip.

Also our sunset is now 3 minutes later, the days are getting longer lol. 

Didn't go to the gym yesterday, was just not feeling it, well to be honest I spent quite a few hours catching up on housework and other little bits and pieces that needed doing. Felt good to get it all done :).

Didn't go to the pool today as I had no togs yet, they arrived about lunchtime... so will be back into it Monday and will go to the gym this weekend sometime. Have yet to try my protein powder as I am only going to have it when I do a workout. I also purchased some quest bars to try today, so can also have that, if feeling peckish after a workout and don't have time to eat something properly, I also got some Organic Cocoa Nibs to add to the protein powder, or to add to yogurt or whatever else. 

This weekend, have no idea what we are doing, David is still doing his overtime for the last weekend, this weekend. If its a nice day on Sunday, might go for a drive somewhere...

Weight wise, I have now lost all that I gained while trialling low carb, so am pleased about that. I am not really doing anything to dramatic about food, just trying to make better choices :). 

It is a beautiful day outside today, no clouds, lovely warm even though it is only 12 degrees. We had a minus 1 this morning, that was a bit chilly.

27th June 2018

Pool day, did 2k's + Aqua Jogging & Aqua Aerobics, I really did not enjoy the aqua aerobics and wont be doing it again in a hurry. I have never really enjoyed it....


It was so bloody cold this morning that the gate had frozen shut.... not impressed trying to open it when it was so cold. Once she hot water was poured on it, it opened.... It was 1 degrees but felt like -3 degrees bbbbrrrrrrrr. Where the 92% humidity comes from I have no idea..


The other week I purchased some bottoms for swimming as I had a tankini and the top was ok, well I thought. Well today it started coming apart, I wasn't sure whether to purchase full togs or the bottoms last time, and decided on the bottoms wrong move, so now I have ordered togs and a tankini top, and will decided when they arrive, which one I will send back. Do you know how hard it is to find plus sized togs this time of the year.... well it is bloody hard. 

Anyway thats me for today, tomorrow is a gym day, so don't need to go quite so early :)

26th July 2018

Another day another gym session done. Again I struggled and I think I know the reason why, its not quite a week when I decreased the pain meds and I think it might be a link to that, it seems that for about the first 10 days after a pain medication drop, I feel blah, have a constant headache and just feel like everything is a struggle.



I did 11 minutes on the treadmill today, 1 more minute from Sunday, so think I will increase the treadmill 1 minute at a time and hope the achillies issues stay away.

Pool tomorrow, am I feeling like it no not really when it is going to be -1 degrees in the morning. I am thinking tomorrow I will do some lengths and then do aqua aerobics just for a change. 

My Pure protein powder arrived, did a little unboxing video, and OMG I really need to practice vlogging again and also editing....... it is bad but hey its been a few years since I vlogged or edited lol. 



Oh yeah also meant to mention with my eating, I have my last bit of food about 9 - 9.30pm and then don't normally have my first meal the following day till about 12 or 1pm. I usually have 2 main meals a day and some snacks consisting of fruit etc. 


Anyway today has been bloody cold, we got a high of 7 degrees and now it is only 6 degrees bbbbrrrrrrrr. Need to go and warm up the nail room soon, have a client coming in about 45 minutes.

25th July 2018

Well today was tough at the pool, for whatever reason. At 1km, I was so ready to stop and go home, but I persevered. I use the flutter board, but man I need flippers, otherwise it would take me all day to do 10 lanes lol. It felt good though as I could really feel the stretch in my arms. Also the pool seemed really cold (ok much colder) than normal. I wish I was at the beach today in warmer weather though, but will have to wait another 8 or is it 7 weeks till that happens lol.



Today is cold and wet and a shitty kind of day, I didn't sleep well last night, had these most bizarre dreams. 

Just watching on TV the Discovery Turbo channel and they are doing an auction of all these classic cars, man there are some beautiful cars in that auction, they even auctioned of a VW Beetle. Chicken is in the crockpot for dinner, really need to do a bit of housework but cant be bothered lol. 

Anyway gym tomorrow, that I am looking forward too :). 

Oh yeah I purchased some Protein Powder on the weekend, should be here tomorrow.... got it from 'here'


Am going to have it as a protein shake after my exercise, I love Vanilla and Cinnamon, so figure I would love this, well I better bloody love it at that price :).

24th June 2018

Really enjoyed my day of yesterday from exercise. Today I was back at it, went to the gym and loved it.


Today at the gym, I did 10 minutes on the treadmill and there was no issues with my achillies, so crossing fingers I can keep adding to the time on the treadmill. :). 

I purchased some new shoes yesterday, and they are so comfy, my other ones were years old, in fact I think I did my half marathon in them lol. I also purchased a flutter board, and will get some flippers soon to add some variety to my swimming :). I got some nice new pink shoes..... and choose a blue flutter board, even though it was $5.00 more expensive than the red one go figure.....



I cant believe how much I am loving the exercise I am doing and the endorphins I am also feeling is even better. I am even quietly thinking that I might be able to complete another half marathon again sometime. 

Tomorrow is the pool and looking forward to it.

This weeks exercise plan is:
Pool - Monday/Wednesday/Friday 
Gym - Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday. 
Have decided to start doing each 3 times a week. Oh yeah will leave you with a short video of the gym, I was the only one there for a short time,  so quickly got the phone out and did a quick film :).

I am feeling it today, have done 6 days in a row of pretty hardcore exercise (well for me). Today was the pool again and it was bloody cold going this morning. I still have 1 more gym session, not sure if I will do that tomorrow or Sunday, which ever I decide I will have the other day of the weekend exercise free. I am thinking I will have tomorrow of and the gym on Sunday, and then another week begins.



The daylight is 1 minute longer today, sunset is 5.01pm not 5pm - I love it lol. 

Anyway thats it from me for today, have the curtains all shut, the heater on and still bloody cold, just can not warm up today....

Another day another pool session done :)


The pool was busy when I first arrived, but by about 9am it quietened down, till the schools arrived at 9.30am. Man kids make a lot of noise, it was my time to go and have a spa, where it was a little quieter, but it seemed cold so dint stay long :)

Am feeling a little tired today, did nails this afternoon. Not sure if it will be pool or gym tomorrow, it is suppose to be 2 degrees bbbbbrrrrrrrr. I will decide when the alarm goes off lol. Only have 1 client tomorrow, then another weekend is here....... no plans yet.

Oh and the weight gain I had doing low carb, is now coming back down again, by weigh in, it should be back to what it was or very near to it anyway.

20th June 2018

And I did the pool today and loved it, did 2k's + Aqua Jogging. I was the only one in the swimming lanes for the first 1km, it was so nice and peaceful. Then 2 guys came either side of me, and out swam me every length lol.


In case I was second guessing my eating again, then the scales again proved to me, what I am doing now is working fantastic :). 

Cant believe that in 8 weeks this time, we will be in the warmth and sun :).

Also cant believe that we are nearly another month over, bloody hell where is this year going too..... its scary shit how fast time is flying by.

Oh yeah got a WOF on my car today, thought it would pass but I always shit myself, cause car bills are not cheap. Anyway I can relax for another 12 months yay :).

Thats about it for today, not sure if I will do pool or gym tomorrow, am thinking pool, as I really do enjoy it so much more. Oh and I never got around to doing aqua aerobics, the one time I was prepared, it wasn't on, she was on holiday and there has been none since, think she comes back next week sometime. So hopefully then :).

19/06/18

Day 3 being back into my way of eating, and the scales are still heading down, so from now on, I am not going to second guess anymore and just keep doing what I am doing now. My glucose levels are in the excellent range, so I am not going to try and fit low carb into my life anymore (though I still am trying to keep my carbs natural rather than processed), and just enjoy the ride :).

Today I went to the gym, as the pool on a Tuesday at the moment is busy with schools etc, and they only have 2 swimming lanes, so am going to do the next few Tuesday's at the gym. I really pushed myself at the gym and it felt so bloody good. I am starting to add in some abdominal exercises, and stretching, as my body is so stiff :).


Tomorrow I have to go for a warrant on my car, well tomorrow or Thursday anyway, it's as scary as going to the dentist, though I don't expect anything wrong with the car, I have only had it a year but you never know......

Thursday is winter solstice, and that means it is the shortest day of the year, to me that means that Spring is just around the corner, and every day the days are a fraction longer - I love it lol. 

Was it wrong of me to come home from the gym, have a shower and get straight into my pj's.... it was just one of those days, where the sun was streaming in, and I just felt like not getting dressed or anything and just relaxing in the sun. Though it has gone now and the temperature is dropping fast :(. I have been going through the camera book and trying to learn all there extra stuff it can do :). 

8 weeks tomorrow till our holiday, cant wait, and then on our return the day after it will be Spring - my favourite season of the year :).

18/06/18

Another day, another swim...... it was pure bliss, and the spa was so nice and warm. 
But by the time I got home, the temperature had dropped, the rain started, so had a nice hot shower, shut all the curtains and turned the heater on. I was not going to freeze, even though I hate feeling all locked in with the curtains closed. And now I am also watching the final few episodes of '13 Reasons Why' part 2. 

We went out to dinner last night, I had lasagne, it was my first pasta in about a year, OMG it was delicious but felt a bit yuck after that, sort of like I ate to much, which I didn't, but just think my stomach was not used to pasta like that.  

After being back on calorie counting for 2 days, I am already just over 800 grams down from my nearly 3 kilo gain in 5 days, doing lower carb. Though I am still watching my carbs, but having them more in their natural state like a banana, which is 29 carbs.

17th June 2018

Another gym session done and am feeling ok about my diet change. Pretty much what will be happening, is I am going to calorie count and avoid processed carbs and sugar. This means I can have fruit, though it has sugar, it is a natural sugar, that does not mean I am going to have heaps of fruit, basically everything in m moderation. My glucose count doesn't seem to change, if I have carbs.



It was quite warm when I went to the gym, but the wind has picked up and man it has got freezing. Was hoping to eat breakfast outside.... Tomorrow is a pool day and really looking forward to it. Oh yeah my new bottoms arrived so don't need to worry about my bottom half falling down anymore lol. 

This week, is more quiet with nails, so no excuse not to have a good exercise week, it will be a 6 day exercise week. Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday - Pool & Thursday/Weekend - Gym.  

Tonight we are going out for dinner, not sure where - maybe Ciccio's.

16th June 2018

Well after another 800gram gain again overnight, I am quitting lower carb again, how the f**k can you gain 2.8 Kilos in 5 days of lower carb..... I was losing ok on calorie counting, but the reason I changed, was because I was starting to feel blah..... so though I am counting calories, I am going to make a real effort at keeping the carbs lower rather then higher. Or if I do stay lower carb, I need to up my fats, but then I don't want my cholesterol to go up, hence why I was doing lower carb and lower fat..... why is weightloss so difficult...

I am still hoping to keep my carbs less than 130 grams, would like to aim about 70 - 100 grams per day.

Didn't go to the gym today as I had clients, (I don't normally work Saturdays), but will go tomorrow, oh and went to the doctor yesterday and my blood pressure as come down a fraction, so we are lowering the pain meds a fraction and go back in a month for another blood pressure check and if fine, we will then drop it again... and so on till I am med free...... 

Anyway thats about it for now......

14th June:

Yesterday was a no exercise day, I was busy with nails, so conserved my energy for that. Oh yeah my bottom half of my togs arrived today :)

Nothing else really to report, oh yeah thats right (I know I am not suppose to be on a spending spree, but I could not resist this bag, and it will be brilliant for Aussie..... it should arrive tomorrow :)

15th June:

Today I did something I was not going to do, I weighed in, and I have flipping gained 2 kilos since Monday doing low carb, WTF - how can that be, I will persevere till Monday, in case it is just a glitch, but lets just say I am pissed, which of course will not do my Blood Pressure any good, for the doctors later today gggrrrrrr. So currently watching mindless TV do try and destress. I have not watched morning telly, since the kids were little I think. I am watching channel 3 breakfast show, cant say it is stimulating, so don't think I have missed much over the years lol. 

Oh and I have been monitoring my glucose levels, while doing lower carb as well as counting calories, and they were both in the perfect level, every time I did them, so was pleased with that :)

I changed back to lower carb again, because I was feeling blah.... please let it be a glitch :)

Anyway am going to the gym after the doctor appointment, catch you later :).

13th July 2018

Went to the pool little earlier today, as it was nice and warm - anything above 2 degrees in the morning, is a bonus and today was 12 degrees, it was wet but who cares it was warm, and thats all I am concerned about :).

Had to cut my aqua jogging short, as the school wanted the pool where we were aqua jogging, gees how inconsiderate they are lol. I am not going to lie, I was kinda happy about that, as the swim seemed really hard today, and it took me about 30 lengths to get my goggles right, they just wouldn't sit right, and I wasted so much time fiddling with them. 



I am not sure, if I will go to the pool tomorrow, as I have a busy afternoon/evening with nails..... might just go and do some aqua jogging, so I am not too stuffed. 

The bloody wind has picked up again, it seems that we have rain and wind 6/7 days a week. Originally we were thinking of going on holiday in June, we would have been leaving in a weeks time, kinda sad we are not, but I know come August I will be glad we waited and on our return we will be in Spring (my favourite season). 

Am feeling so much better already with having lowered the carbs, (after I just said how tiring the swim was lol, but thats a different type of tired), and am so glad I have done it, I really hope the scales give me a kilo loss over these 10 days, I am not weighing in between cause if they show a gain I might get disheartened..... 

Am going to the doctor on Friday, I am so hoping my blood pressure is the same or even coming down, as with the coming of the pain meds and the pain increase, it seems to make my blood pressure high. I think the pain would be the same with or without the lowered dose, as I am sure it is more to do with the cold than the reduction in meds....

Another exercise day done at the gym, had a really good workout and really enjoyed it. I tried 5 minutes on the treadmill, to see how my achillies would hold out. At 5 minutes it started hurting a little, so stopped, but was not to bad, but it still needs more strengthening. 

My new camera arrived today, it feels so good to have a nice camera again. 

Oh yeah, I have a tankini type togs, and the bottom half has stretched out so much and has got so thin, I am scared too wear them again in the water lol, and they are just too big..... Anyway was hoping they would last till we went to Aussie and was hoping to get some new togs over there, but that is not the case, anyway found some bottom halves on Ezibuy and it cost me $70 with postage bloody hell - expensive, but I need them. I am going swimming tomorrow and Thursday and then the following Monday, so they should be here by then as I paid extra for overnight shipping. So I am hoping that my ones will last another 2 swimming sessions. 

It has been, and still is a busy week with nails...

Oh yeah anyone watched on Netflix "Black Mirror", I watched the first one today from series one - WOW is all I can say.... I sat there with my mouth open for the whole show while watching it. Just bizarre.......

Am going swimming early tomorrow morning, as we are having a warm low.... and I want to do some lengths, wish me luck I don't lose my bottom half lol.

Another day another swim, I went a bit later as it was so bloody cold this morning, but when I got there, the pool was used by the schools and there were only 2 swimming lanes available (which were busy), and the aqua jogging lanes. So ended up doing 60 minutes of aqua jogging....

We have this restaurant in Rotorua - Ciccio, it is an Italian Restaurant but also now has a Keto menu, the chef there lost 60 or 70 kilos in 12 months doing keto, and she has now talked the restaurant into offering a keto menu. The food is delicious, they also sell Pork Rinds in different flavours, there are 3 servings to a packet, and the most net carbs they have is 0.5 grams, with 9.2 Grams Protein and 4.7 Grams Fat, you can buy them from the restaurant as a takeaway. They also have the most amazing Keto desserts, if you are ever in Rotorua, you need to go there (they are closed Monday's though).
 I am just in the process of watching Part 2 off '13 Reasons Why', finding it really interesting, about half way through the series. 

I have just purchased a new camera, mainly for the holiday as I gave my other camera to my daughter and was just going to use my phone on holiday. But though the photos are good, a camera does a better job. May even do some vlogging lol....

My first weigh in will be on the 20th, so it will be a 10 days on being on lower carb. God I better have a loss lol, I am still not sure about this low carb stuff, but I do know I felt so much more energetic when I was on it last time.

Feeling so much better psychologically already with starting back doing lower carb. Been to the gym this morning, really enjoyed the workout, with the added changes.
I really thought I could do calorie counting and keeping my carbs to a good level. But every week that went on, my carbs were increasing to the point, where I didn't even check the carb count anymore. So I knew something had to change before it got too out of control. 

We have 9 weeks to our holiday, so am aiming for a 5 kilo loss, very doable :). I am starting a fresh with the new goal, just psychologically it feels right lol. 

Our mindset has a huge influence on how things go, well mine does, so hence why I am doing the whole fresh start thing. I am feeling a new motivation and am looking forwards to getting back into lower carb properly, cause I know I felt so much better on it :).

Day 1 has ended perfect with being back on track, exercise and gym done :)

Back to Lower Carb - Not Keto

After some thinking, I realised, I was not feeling so energetic, my pain has increased (though that could be more to do with the cold weather), and am just a starting to feel blah. 

So after having about 6 weeks of doing more of a calorie count, (or could be longer, god knows time is going by so fast, I cant keep up), anyway I digress.... as I was saying I am starting to feel blah, and more and more carbs are starting to sneak back in, so have decided I am, oh and David will be starting lower carb again. 

It wont be to hard to get back on track, our house is still pretty much low carb, so know need to buy any new foods. Just need to throw out the loaf of bread and a couple of sweet foods that somehow got into the pantry. 

I have been doing some googling and read about some people who had similar issues, with stopping losing weight etc on keto, and went to calorie counting, then got back onto lower carb/keto and are having a success. 

So lets see what the next 10 weeks bring, hopefully some more energy at least :).

Did the pool today and after a 10 day break from the pool, I still managed my 2k's and aqua jogging. But boy did my body feel it....

Now the sad news with the pool, my hair does not like it, I tried a cap, but hated it.... so for now my hair has to come second. Or I might just have to bleach it again, my hairdresser wont be very happy lol. 

All the time in the pool , all I could think about was KFC mashies lol. God knows why, so I just went and got some for lunch and they were nothing like I imagined.... such a let down lol. 

Not much planned for the weekend, except the gym on either Saturday or Sunday. David is still doing overtime this month. The dutch market is on tomorrow, might go and have a croquette yumm yummm. 

We have a beautiful day today, 13 degree's Celsius, the sun is streaming inside, and no rain for about 12 hours love it.

Met my physio at the gym, the achillies seems to be getting stronger, which is good. We also adjusted and added some stuff to the programme, so feels like a new one. I see her every 3 weeks.
I am changing my exercise routine around a bit, as it is just to cold to go to the pool so often in the cold cold mornings it really mucks my chronic pain around. 

So am going to be doing the pool - Monday/Wednesday/Friday and the gym Tuesday/Thursday and either Saturday or Sunday. I am also going to on Monday go to the pool a bit later and see how busy it is..... Tomorrow I think I will try aqua aerobics. 

Oh and here a couple of pics of the haircut, taken the day off by the hairdresser. Excuse the no makeup and wrinkles lol. Am growing it out to a longer bob, so I can do more with it, when dressing up vintage :)

Today was a gym day, my biceps and hamstrings were mighty sore from yesterdays low impact cardio workout I did yesterday. Might do it a bit more often lol. Tomorrow is another gym day, and I a meeting my physio there, so swimming will be Friday, I am even thinking of going tomorrow after my physio appointment. 




I have updated my weigh in's, nothing has really changed, to be honest after my 4 days off from exercise and not watching what I was eating, I am glad, I didn't have a big gain. 

It is another miserable wet day here again today..... only 16 days and we have the shortest day, so that for me means summer is on the way again, well at least Spring lol.

WTF, how the hell did June get here so quick......

Anyway onto today, was suppose to go to the pool, but it was pissing down with rain, and Chico stresses with heavy rain/winds and fireworks etc, so didn't want to leave her, as she has had seizures when she is really stressed in the past.
So decided to do an at home workout, found a cardio workout, then did some swissball stuff and a bit of yoga. Not a huge workout, but it was nice to do something a little different. 

The weather has cleared up now, tomorrow will be a gym day, as I have an early morning client, and wont be able to go to the pool and be back in time for the client, without rushing, and I want to enjoy it. Then Thursday will be another gym day as I meet my physio there this Thursday (well I think it is this Thursday). And then back to the pool on Friday :).

Today I went back to the gym, after a 4 day break, of both food and exercise, whoops - but thats life, sometimes it gets in the way. It felt really good to be back at the gym, and am starting to meet people there, and chat away, which is nice. They are also motivating me :)

Tomorrow is the pool, all going to plan :)



My niece got married on Saturday, it was a beautiful wedding, and the day went without a hitch. It was nice to catch up with family, the only times we meet up seems to be funerals and weddings - like most families I assume. 

Chris (son), and his girlfriend stayed last night here, and heading back to Auckland later today. 

Oh since I have cut back on the exercise that triggered the achillies, it is pain free at the moment, so may start adding in some light lower body exercise and see how it goes. I am due to see my physio at the gym on Thursday, so will wait for confirmation from her first.

June 1st 2018

Just a quick update, I will be missing in a action till Monday or Tuesday, we have a long weekend here this weekend, and I am going to my nieces wedding tomorrow.

I have not been to the pool or gym yesterday or today and won't be going until maybe Sunday or Monday. My wrist has been playing up something chronic, not sure if it is the cold, reduction in meds or god knows what ever else, CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), knocks at you. So I am resting as I want to be pain free enough to enjoy the wedding tomorrow. 

I am wearing arm warmers, so that my wrists stay 1 temperature, and that seems to be helping, last night I actually got more than a couple hours of sleep. So this makes me think it is the cold. We have been having -1 degrees when I get up to go to the pool, and winter has only just started.

Anyway have a great long weekend, those in NZ and stay safe if you are travelling :)
