And a new week begins....

Went to the gym, didn't want to go, I tried talking myself out of it with every excuse possible, but I still went and enjoyed it, who am I kidding, I didn't enjoy it, well I kinda did but not really lol. Didn't do the treadmill, just wasn't in the mood. Still managed to burn 986 active calories. Then came home and rearranged the lounge, as the couch was under the window, but David was getting a chill in his neck, so have moved things around so that the couch is no longer under the window. Yip real exciting riveting stuff......

No gym tomorrow as Sky is coming sometime in the morning to change over our sky box, its not recording so they are swapping it over, so will go on Wednesday instead. 

The dogs went to the groomers today, and we have it confirmed that Chico has cataracts, we noticed it a few weeks ago, we will go to the vets and see what the best option is. David and I have decided that we are not having any more pets, when these two have gone. It is to heartbreaking.......

Its been absolutely pelting down today, heavy heavy rain, but now thew sun is trying to pop through. Ok forget the sun, it has gone again, and there is now thunder....

And on that note I am going to get on with the rest of the day :).

Sunday, raining Sunday.....

Here we are a few days on, Friday's post is below, I forgot to publish it.... 

It is raining today, so that means not much is happening, yesterday we went and got some yummy strawberries, from the truck that comes from Whakatane and man they smell delicious. I love strawberry season. 


Food is still crap, stress is still there, hopefully after the next week, things will settle, though I need to stop stress eating before then, thats for sure. 

Managed the gym 4 times this week, going to aim for 5 times next week, the good thing is I am quite busy with nails so that will help not to stress eat. So hears hoping for a good week. 


Friday and made it to the gym.....

Thursday:
Ended like this… Water was a bit better, had a much better sleep, though it wasn’t a deep sleep, it was a sleep. My Achilles decided to play up a bit last night, but today it seems much better, so going to be a little cautious on it. Food was a disaster from start to finish.
Friday:
Again, I struggled getting to the gym, but I got there and am proud of that, I so wanted to stay in bed. Had a pretty good workout, upped the interval training on the bike and no real issues to speak of currently with the Achilles, it’s a little sore but nothing to much. 
Food so far is good; well for today anyway, will it stay good – probably not. I know I somehow have to stop stress eating, but hopefully things will get a little less stressful in a couple of weeks time. But am really going to try and stop eating junk before then, this can’t continue like this. But right now, I am going to focus on getting to the gym 5 times a week. 

This weekend it is suppose to rain all weekend, not sure what we will be doing, the gym will be at least once, but am hoping for twice.

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

Tuesday Night: 
This is how Tuesday ended…, apart from water intake, it wasn’t to bad. Till the same issue that came up the other week or last week, or whenever it was, has reared its ugly head again late in the night.

Wednesday:
This is how Wednesday ended…. I did drink, but no water, just diet coke.  It was a no gym day, but the day was a disaster in more ways than one. The stress got the better of me and didn’t give a f**k what I ate…. Sleep was crappy of the sleep I got


Thursday:
I did not want to go to the gym, I had a headache from hell, I felt bloated and fat from yesterday’s binge, and lack of water…. Ok I am fat, but I felt fatter than normal fat. I was so tempted to not go to the gym and repeat yesterday with food…. BUT 
I did go to the gym, food is crap but hey I went to the gym, and tomorrow I will go again, and what will food be, have no idea right now. Has the issue been resolved? No and sadly it is no quick fix. But I do need to get on top of this stress, and not use food to get by.

Monday:
This is how Monday ended… Not too bad, sleep was pretty good, water still needs workJ

Tuesday:
Another gym morning, did the bike again and treadmill and still no real Achilles pain yay J. The only thing that pisses me off is that the Apple Watch does not give you accurate measurements with the treadmill. By looking at google, it seems to be an annoying issue, if anyone does know if it is possible to somehow connect the Apple Watch with the treadmill, please contact me. It works brilliant for every other machine in the gym. The gym is getting pretty warm now the warmer weather is here J.


Another brilliant day outside, have no clients today so just using the time to catch up with bits and pieces. So nothing to exciting to report, so will sign of here for now – and if something riveting does happen then you will hear about it tomorrow lol.

Friday/Saturday/Sunday & Monday all in one :)

Friday:
Sleep was slightly better but still not the best my phone decided to do the black screen of death at about midnight, then had to spend nearly 2 hours trying to sort the bloody thing out. Everything was still working but it was just a black screen, of course fiddling with it I called 111 accidently and couldn’t hang up, had to explain what happened, going by the internet it is a common occurrence and many people throughout the world have accidently called the emergency number trying to fix it. Anyway, it is all good again phew J.

Saturday:
We went to the farmers market in Tauranga, where we got the first of the strawberries, they were pretty good for the beginning of the season, we also purchased some different cheeses, some yummy sausages and bacon, some macadamia fudge, this lady there makes the most awesome fudge, usually by the time we get there she has sold out, but not this time, so we couldn’t resist, also got our super jumbo eggs, usually most if not all are double yolks, but not this time sadly, we also got some Dutch croquets for breakfast. We then went to visit my dad for a couple of hours, then headed back home. Oh we also went to the Gouda Cheese Dutch shop and got some more cheese…. We love the cumin cheese. 

Sunday:
Ummmmmm that was yesterday, and bugger if I can remember what we did, but come the afternoon I settled down to watch the Supercars which were racing at the Gold Coast, but sadly it got called off after about 40 laps as it was just too dangerous with all the rain bugga. 

This how Sunday might eneded…. Look at that sleep – can’t remember the last time I had a sleep like that, must have needed it lol. 


 Monday:
It’s a public holiday here in New Zealand, this morning I went to the gym, I went to the gym 3 days last week, aiming for 4 days minimum this week, really hoping for 5 times J.



I added the exercycle today, and so far so good, only did a gentle ride, because of that I did the treadmill for only 10 minutes. Feels good getting back into some more cardio - a total of 876 active calories burnt J.

This morning we had sausages/bacon/eggs/tomato’s for breakfast, we sat outside and ate it, was really nice. Yesterday we got up to 22 degree’s, today we are at 21 degree’s, might even have dinner outside and get the BBQ ready J

This afternoon, nothing planned, might go and try Texas Chicken here in Rotorua, which opened on Friday and then just the usual stuff, bit of housework, washing etc…

Nails is fairly quiet this week at this stage, but is busy again next week.

Oh yeah I purchased a couple of dresses yesterday, one was from “Two Lippy Ladies” – this one from Hell Bunny



And this one, from a website I only just discovered that sells new and preloved plus size clothing – “Curated Curves New Zealand”, I already have this style in a dress but with a different pattern and always get complimented on it.

Long Weekend is here.....

Thursday Ended:
Thursday ended like this, yip crap sleep for whatever reason, but water was up so thats a positive. I got asked if my steps included the exercise, no it doesn't.

Friday:
Today didn’t make it to the gym, went to the doctor and did a BP check, it is about the same as last time, and that is good, because I have come of some of the pain meds, next reduction of the next pain med will start end of December or early in the new year. 

I also have been busy doing nails, as it is a long weekend, have just now finished for the weekend, tomorrow morning we are going to the farmers market in Tauranga, then through to see my dad for a couple of hours, and that’s all we have planned at this point. Oh yeah, Texas Chicken (I think that’s what it’s called), has opened in Rotorua today, we might go and try that sometime this weekend as well.  Oh and am planning on the gym on Sunday and Monday as well.

Anyway, that’s about it for today, not sure when I will post next, probably Sunday, oh thought I might give the new horror ‘Haunting of Hill House’ on Netflix, I love a good horror and from what I hear this is pretty good.

Thursday 18th October

Wednesday’s Final Update:

This was a gym free day, hence why no exercise points, water still slack...

Thursday:
Today was another gym day, really enjoying being well enough to go regularly again, it makes me think it might have been med withdrawal side effects…. who knows but am loving feeling good again.

Today I did 15 minutes on the treadmill, still only at speed 3, and doing 2 minutes 0 incline, 3 minutes at level 6 incline, and still no issues with the Achilles. It says I only walked 15m, for some reason my watch doesn’t seem to get the distance correct, especially when going slow, It was 750 metres J. The rest of the gym session was the hand cycling and core/lower body. I didn’t work up a sweat much, but man my legs felt like jelly. Burnt a total of 816 active calories.


Today has been another semi busy day, with nails etc… tomorrow am not sure if I can get to the gym, have a doctor appointment in the morning, then straight after that I have clients, before the long weekend. Starting to do Halloween nails, makes a nice change J

Spring is here today, we finally got over 20 degree’s yippee, and we are supposed to go up to 21 degrees for the long weekend, might even get to have a BBQ, lower carb is so much easier in summer. 

Have been watching and reading plus size vloggers/bloggers, and body positivity, I am in 2 minds about this, one being that yes I believe no matter what size you are, you deserve to be respected, but what really annoys me about these plus size vloggers/bloggers is how they go on, about how they love their size etc and am body positive, yet go and photoshop their photos 3 sizes smaller etc…. and just because you can fit into 1 size 16 outfit, does not make you a size 16, when the rest of your clothes are in the 20’s. If you are really body positivity then why try and lie about your size, or photoshop the heck out of your photos. Granted not every vlogger/blogger does this, but it seems more and more do, especially those in the early 20’s. What made me mention this, I was watching a plus size vlogger the other day, and she managed to squeeze into a size 16,(1 piece) and proceeded to tell everyone she was a 16, but never shows her other clothes sizes, and looking at her on YouTube, you can see she is definitely not a size 16. I know of a young lady in her early 20’s who is a size 16 (true size), and she was watching this woman on YouTube, and asked me if she really looked that big as she is a true size 16, this made her really upset to think she was as big as this particular YouTuber. This makes me so sad to think that she is probably one of many young ladies/girls and how they see themselves like this. Being YouTube etc, there is no accountability for these people, anyway rant over.

Best I get going and finish folding the washing, and start thinking about what is for dinner.

Middle of the Week

Another day is here, no gym today, it is housework day, yesterday (Tuesday) ended like this, water was a fraction better, and sleep was a fraction better – had a bit of a tossing and turning night, things going around in my head, want to start getting back to 7 – 8 hours sleep again. 


Wednesday:

Today I decided to have a major clean out of my desk draws and makeup draws, managed to get a good rubbish bag of stuff to throw out, feels good and it kept me busy, so I don’t think about food so much. For me the key is keeping myself busy, especially on days I don’t go to the gym. I have a few clients this afternoon, so that will also help. 

Another nice day outside and it is 16 degree’s, and the sun is shining, but the wind just doesn’t make it nice to sit out there, maybe later, want to start having BBQ’s and dinner outside, but here in Rotorua it is still a little nippy.

Oh and my Achilles is still holding up yippee. J

Another day.......

Yesterday (Monday) ended like this.... I was surprised I got 5 hours sleep, it felt a lot less, and need to work on my water..., its better than what it was.


Tuesday:
Another day, another gym session done and still no sore Achilles (trying not to get too excited just yet).

Did another very small 10-minute walk on the treadmill, then did upper body/strength training and the hand cycling, all in all burnt 894 active calories. A whole 20 calories were burnt on the treadmill lol. Didn’t feel nauseous today, so think yesterday was from the missing of morning meds, thank god – did not want to be coming down with another bug of some sort. Day off tomorrow J. Oh and I use my Apple Watch to get my data :)


Today when I was doing the washing, I could hear this clunking sound in the machine, thought I should check it out and then clicked it was my cell-phone still in my jacket pocket…. By this stage I thought it was farked, as it had been in there for about 20 minutes if not longer, but it still worked, everything on it worked… the sound is a little distorted but as the day is getting on it is becoming clearer. Thanks Apple for bringing out a waterproof phone the iPhone X. 

It is another gorgeous day out there, a little windy but it is 18 degrees, what’s not to love, have not had time to sit out in it though today as have been busy with nails etc.

Didn’t realise that Labour Weekend is with us this weekend, still thought it was a couple of weeks away yet, not sure what we will do at this stage, hopefully the weather will be nice J.

I have decided to make weigh ins Wednesday’s, for no real reason than it is just the middle of the week. 

Yesterday turned into a disaster of a headache with stress, something went down not long after the post, and my headache came back for the rest of the day and really struggled. But am really hoping it has sorted itself out today, or sorts itself out today. I must admit I am pretty lucky that family issues are not really a struggle too often, but this knocked me for six. 

Anyway, onto other things, went to the gym this morning, met my physio, explained my frustration with my Achilles and we have decided to up the activity, cause resting it is not making any bloody difference, so we went on the treadmill, and did 2 minutes of flat walking then we upped the incline to pretty steep and did 2 minutes and so on…. So far, I can’t notice any difference in the level of pain so that’s good. This way it will strengthen and will just cope with the pain, and it means I will be doing more than just bloody hand cycling. Today was lower body/core and tomorrow is upper body/strength training. 


I was not feeling well at the gym, felt nauseous again, maybe lack of sleep, or maybe it was because I had forgotten to take my morning meds whoops, which meant I had felt not 100% all day. But that’s ok a new day tomorrow, food has been good again today so far, and hopefully a good night’s sleep will make me feel better tomorrow.

Today weather wise has been good, apart from the frost this morning, but did manage to spend some time outside in the sun a little, felt nice. 

Oh yeah I had a voucher for $10 from the chemist that was due to expire yesterday so we went to the chemist and they were having a Wet n Wild (cruelty free) sale so got all this for $2.00 as they were 2 for $6.00. So anyway got this, quite loving the eye shadow, and it swatched pretty good, not sure about the lippy and love the false eyelashes and you can never have to many makeup wipes.


Anyway, that’s about it, been on the computer most of the day doing nail stuff……

Just a few thoughts.....

Today I have woken up and actually feel normal for the first time, in what feels like weeks, I have no headache, and have energy. It was 2 degrees this morning, when I woke up but now at just after 9am, it is 9 degrees and the sun is shining, and there is no rain on the radar for the week, though I never really trust the weather forecast. Yesterday I spent the day in PJ’s, and did nothing except cook dinner. Maybe I needed it, or maybe the withdrawal side effects from the meds are finally over, who knows but it feels good to wake up with some energy. Hell, we might even go out today lol. 

Yesterday while I was being a blob, I was googling (as you do, when there is nothing else to do), I came across articles and I mean many articles like hundreds of thousands about different weight loss programs and why you should do this one and that one, and thought to myself, no wonder people are so confused on what is right and wrong now…. personally, I don’t think there is any right or wrong diet or way of life or whatever you want to call it. I believe that no food is out of bounds in moderation, but that is where it starts getting complicated, those with weight issues usually have problems with the word ‘moderation’. I am the perfect example of that, I know exactly what I should and should not be eating, but I don’t/can’t do it. 

This brings me onto specific diets, low carb v higher carb etc, I found many people eating what I would call ‘higher carb’ diets but healthier carbs like fruit and higher carb vegetables and bread in moderation etc lose a lot of weight, I also see many people doing ‘lower carb/keto’ lose weight as well. What makes one right and not the other, I have no idea, we have to find what works for each person individually. For me I love lower carb not keto because you can lose weight relatively easy, and with lower carb I allow myself fruits and all vegies, but do I believe it is good long term? No because I don’t agree with the high fat that goes with it and a few other things. 

This is where moderation for me comes in, my goal is to eventually be able to eat all foods and in moderation, exercise regularly minimum 5 days a week and just enjoy life, but that is way down the track, I need to get there first.

No wonder people are so confused what diet is the best diet, those with higher carb diets swear by it, those that do keto swear by that, then there are a thousand different types of diets in-between on the spectrum, which people swear by. What happened to good old-fashioned eating, where you eat food that isn’t processed, when I was younger, I remember eating everything that grew out of the ground, or off a tree or baking that mum made but in moderation, there’s that word again moderation. But I certainly don’t remember ever having any processed food, or fast food, ok there wasn’t those foods around like they are today, people say that we lead a busier life now and that processed/fast-foods foods make life easier, but I remember my parents working long days in physical jobs and still coming home and cooking dinner, have we become lazier, or are we actually working harder, I don’t know, probably a bit of both. 

One thing I am glad I don’t live in the States, I think here in New Zealand we have a lot of processed and fast food chains, but OMG compared to the States we only have a small amount of processed foods compared to what they get there, and I cannot believe the amount of drive throughs they have, like Dunkin Donuts/Subway – it is mind boggling. 

Anyway, where is this post taking me, I have no idea really, it just got me thinking, how the weight loss industry is booming and why we can no longer keep things simple. It’s scary on how many diets/way-of-life eating there is out there, and why people that need to lose weight get so confused on what to eat and what not to eat. Why can’t we nowadays keep it simple and just eat general healthy food including all vegies, a couple servings of fruits a day, some carbs, some protein, some dairy food minimize processed food, if we all ate like that, the diet industry wouldn’t be making millions of dollars from us, and we as consumers wouldn’t be so confused on what is the right or wrong way to eat. 

When did it all start to go so wrong, that we need 50,000 different diets out there to keep healthy….

Bloody hell..... why do I feel like this?

Yes am still not 100%, finally getting over the head cold, doesn't help the temperatures are very low as well, so have been hibernating inside, and getting no fresh air, it feels like it anyway. I also think I am having some pain med withdrawals, why is this so hard. The next medication also has to come down slowly, though hopefully there wont be the same side effects. Anyway I am off the methadone and hopefully after another few days, I will pick up. 


Now onto other things well not a lot happened, work was minimal, only did a couple of clients, I let them choose if they wanted to come knowing they might pick up a bug. Have a busy week next week so better start feeling better. It is now only 7 degrees, and we are getting as low as 1 degree in the morning tomorrow and rain, though having said that at this stage the sun looks like it might peep out sometime over next week.

Now onto food, low carb whats that? Low carb was completely out the door, am going to try and get back on track with it this weekend. Have not weighed in for about a week, denial is good, and am not going to weigh in on Monday, am going to leave it till the following Monday, that way the scales will not dictate my mood (fake it till you make it). 

My achilles is not helping either, it just does not seem to be getting any better, I see the physio tomorrow, it is frustrating the hell out of me. Its b been to bloody cold to go to the pool - maybe next week, if the sun does actually come out.

So anyway thats all the moaning for this blog post, next one will be more positive and hopefully I will have had some vitamin D and feel better. Next week will aim to go to the gym 4 times minimum.

Where did the weekend go.....

Well it was kinda busy in a  kinda quiet way......

Saturday we went to the Dutch market, and had yummy croquets, at 6 grams of carbs per croquet it was fine..... BUT then I bought some liquorice and from there the weekend went down hill food wise and hence the gain of 0.95 Kilos. But hey its life, I am not going to be perfect, I am not feeling guilty, well maybe a little bit but am not going to dwell on it, cause then I know it will be a downhill slide for the week. 


Sunday consumed of watching Bathurst all day and it was so nice to see Craig Lowndes and Steven Richards win the race.... and even better to see Scott McLaughlin be on the podium. Of course, sitting and watching TV all day meant a day of munchies etc.... This is the only sport I really watch all year, but am planning to watch the Super 8 at Gold Coast in a couple of weeks on TV, but am going to be prepared with low carb snacks :). 


So am back on track today, went to the gym, was not feeling 100% by the time I finished, but after a shower and some breakfast, I started picking up, have no idea why I was feeling blah.... maybe all the junk food over the weekend who knows....




Anyway today is just washing, a little tidying, and thats about it.... the sun is shining, better make the most of the sun, as it is suppose to have some rain this afternoon. 

Oh yeah, on Saturday night I missed taking my anti-inflammatory, didn't think to much about it, but boy Sunday was my achilles playing up, it was so sore, I got so disheartened as I thought it was getting better, but it seems that anti-inflammatory is holding the pain bugga bugga bugga..... I see my physio next week. 

I am sure I had something else to say, but bugga if I can think what it was.... will come back ion I remember lol. 

Oh I remembered - I am now officially off the methadone (I had it for pain), so in about 4 weeks, we can start coming of the next pain med :).

Another day done......

Well gym done anyway.... did upper body/strength training this morning, felt good, I just wish I could do more cardio....

I think Spring might actually be here.... but am not going to get to excited just yet, its suppose to rain on Sunday & Monday, but hopefully the weather forecast is wrong, am thinking of having a BBQ on Sunday lunchtime with the twins and partners etc.....

The rest of the weekend is not to busy, we are going to The Dutch Market in Rotorua tomorrow morning, get some cheese and dutch croquettes, Sunday morning have a client then hopefully a BBQ and thats about it.

Gym...

Today was a lower body gym day, managed to burn 707 active calories there, not bad considering I am not allowed to do cardio yet, except the hand cycling water wheel :). Flexibility here is my core/lower body workout. 


Had my protein shake and had lunch, before I left it to late.

Not to much more to report, had a few clients this afternoon, food has been good = love being able to go to the gym again on a regular basis, just cant wait till I can start adding in the bike/elliptical/treadmill etc

This morning......

I spent a few hours in the spare room, it was becoming out of control it was one of those rooms where everything gets thrown into, now it is all in the wardrobe lol, but will get to that once Chris and his girlfriend Izzy have been for the weekend. I would say 80% of it can be thrown out, if we haven't needed it in the last few years, then I sure as hell don't want to keep it for a day we 'might' need it. I pulled everything out, changed furniture around cleaned etc......(except the wardrobe :))

Then this afternoon I worked, and now I am totally stuffed, my arms are so sore from the chronic pain, am taking extra pain meds tonight, at least the achilles isn't to bad. The headache is back, think that is more from dehydration....


Today was a day of from the gym (I normally have Wednesdays as a gym free day), so did the spare room housework etc, and then clients this afternoon. 


Now confession time, we are having fish and chips for dinner, do I feel guilty not really cause in all honesty I am just to tired, and lets face it, if lower carb is going to be a way of life, there are times where you are not going to be perfect. I shall enjoy and move on, by going back to the gym tomorrow morning, doing lower body so my arms get a small break. I also am quite busy in the afternoon with clients again, Friday is a quieter day work wise which is good. Then Chris and Izzy will be here for the weekend, am glad the room is done :). 


So there you have it, nothing exciting to report, catch you tomorrow. It has been a gorgeous day outside today, actually feels like Spring, even now at nearly 6.30pm it is still 17 degrees and sunny. For here that is great :). 


Oh and I am trying to reply to comments, but the stupid thing wont let me, it keeps coming up with error gggrrrrrrrr.

Yes.......

Yes I am feeling good again, no headaches, no achilles pain - due to being very careful.The sun is now shinning after the rain and I don't feel to cold.

Really enjoyed the gym today, did upper body and burnt 871 active calories, no lower body cardio but did do 10 minutes with the water wheel, using arms. Day off tomorrow... My achilles pain is so low, I just need to not overdo it and think it is all fixed, see the physio in just under 2 weeks and am not going to add anything lower body until I have spoken with her.

I am a little nervous with adding the gym back in to my lifestyle, while doing lower carb, in the past it has not been so successful but I am going to continue and juggle things around a bit, if it is not working one way, it may mean I need to add fats or whatever, might even have to count macros for a while till I get art right :). 

Holy fark, had my protein drink after the gym, then didn't eat till 3pm, totally not good when I have done a pretty good workout. Did not feel well at all, had some scrambled eggs with cheese and ham, and a couple of chorizo sausages and now having a cup a soup as I just don't feel well. Wont be doing that again in a hurry, will definitely make sure I eat at no later than 1pm especially on gym days. 

Today is over for me, spent most of the day updating nail swatches etc......

Monday and back to a routine.... oh and weigh in

A new week, went to the gym, I must admit, my head pounded and I was stuffed after it, did lower body, with no cardio, due to my achilles. But I still managed to burn 668 active calories, my legs felt like jelly afterwards.

Now onto weigh in, I lost 2.7 kilos in the last 10 days since I started back at lower carb, so have now lost 22 kilos all up. I pretty much stuck to it for 99%, the only thing I ate which had carbs was lasagne at dinner last Friday night. It is 13 weigh ins till 2019, and I would like to lose minimum 8 kilos in that time, that would just be awesome, and would bring me to 30 Kilos gone :).

Thats about all I have to report, spent the rest of the day doing nail stuff....

Gym tomorrow and doing upper body, so far the achilles is feeling ok :)
